sleep or digestive resolutions

I have suffered from headaches, sleeplessness, chronic bowel problems and pain for many years. I assumed it was because I was getting older and this was par for the course.

I have seen all kind of doctors, had x-rays, drank chalking looking stuff, been probed and prodded and still told, "we can't find anything wrong".

My daughter had sent me, an information pamphlet about acupuncture. When I opened the draw to store it for safe keeping I noticed another clipping I had saved from the year before, also on acupuncture.

The next day, I opened my local newspaper, there was a 2-page, write-up about Shoshanna Katzman. She founded the Red Bank Acupuncture & Wellness Center in Shrewsbury, N.J. Well, I believe in the number three - this must be a sign.

I called and had an appointment for the next day. Went there filled out the information sheet on February 2, 1999. Shoshanna Katzman listened to everything I had to say. I mean LISTENED to everything I had to say. I took her recommendation to have a massage therapy first, then the acupuncture treatment. The massage was wonderful and the acupuncture was painless. I knew that it would take several treatments before I would start to see the result from all the information I had read on acupuncture. I was not prepared for what was to happen next.

That night I went to bed, just before midnight, knowing I would be awake for many hours. I went most days on only three hours of sleep. I placed my head on the pillow and woke up the next morning about 7 a.m. (without using a sleeping pill). I had slept almost 7 hours for the first time in fourteen years.

I have used Tylenol (8 tablets a day, every day for 20 years) for my headaches and pain but the next day after my treatment - no headaches. I had two more nights of good sleep and free of headaches, before my next acupuncture treatment on February 4. The sleeping problem is only a memory now. My husband mentioned after the second treatment, that I was walking and moving better without stopping suddenly from pain.

Because of my bowel problems I had stopped taking trips, would only eat out in a restaurant close to a 15 minute drive from home and would not stay more then a couple of hours at a meeting. After the massage and acupuncture treatment on February 8,1 was able to take a trip without worrying. It was only four hours long but what a great day that was.

I had acupuncture treatments again on February 10, and 16 working in the same area as before.

On February 19, we started on some different area points of my body and I know I will be feeling healthier and better.

I suffered for over 20 years wit pain, getting frustrated because no one could find anything, or believe me, and now in less then a month, my days of suffering are almost gone.

Why didn't I start this sooner? Good question! Why haven't more people started this alternative way of healing? I don't know. But I do know it works.

Thank you Shoshanna Katzman         M. B. Wall, NJ

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of natural healing based upon the principal that any symptom is the result of imbalance in the body’s organic, energetic, and natural activity. Acupuncture works by opening up the flow of vital energy, also known as “Chi”, thereby restoring health to the body. During an Acupuncture treatment, needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to stimulate the energy that is either blocked or congested.

Okay enough with the scientific explanation. I will tell you how acupuncture is changing my life. One-night three years ago I couldn’t sleep. I continuously coughed and my nose wouldn’t stop running. That night changed my life forever. For three years I have suffered from lack of sleep and an incurable illness. I was home tutored for those three years too. Since I couldn’t sleep, the school allowed me that much so I could get over whatever it was that was going on. My first year in high school was a pure terror. They allowed home tutoring but only for ninth grade. This September I became sick again and so I was unable to go to school. The high school denied me being tutored and I didn’t know what to do.

Then one day in late October, the school told my mom to bring me to their doctor. So I went. He told me what every other doctor told me and then decided that I was fit enough to go to school half days. I thought it was fantastic because I would be with all my friends again. But then I also thought about what was I going to do because of my lack of sleep, my allergies and my asthma. The doctor then recommended going for acupuncture. My first thought was “No way am I going to get needles stuck in me!” But then I went and met Shoshanna. She has changed my life in many ways. One by being my friend and another by helping me live again.

The first day I was there I didn’t want anything done. I had decided to just go for a consultation and then leave. But I ended up getting a treatment instead. Shoshanna made me feel comfortable and let me decide. When my only concern was the pain she showed me an acupuncture needle and asked me if she can just do one in my hand.

I was like “Sure, why not?” At that point I had decided to do anything, so she did. And let me tell you it doesn’t hurt at all! For me, a person terrified of needles, it doesn’t hurt one bit.

So that day I went got through it and felt and slept better then I had in ages. I am not saying I am totally cured. No way! I have since then through Shoshanna realized that most of this illness is emotional. But for the allergies, stress, asthma, and nerves, I feel better after every treatment, like I am a brand new person. Someone who could just do about anything. Even if it is as simple as going to school.         SH

I have been suffering from Acid Reflux Disease for several years now. I went to various doctors with no results. After discussions with a friend about alternative medicine, I found the Red Bank Acupuncture & Wellness Center. After my first session with my teacher, Shoshanna Katzman, I found peace. She understood where I was and where I needed to go. She recommended acupuncture therapy and after several sessions I found significant improvement in this disease.

My personal life has also changed. I am no longer a bundle of nerves. In addition to the acupuncture, Shoshanna is giving me Tai Chi lessons. To me this exercise is for mind, body and spirit. I am not the same person I was prior to meeting Shoshanna and I never will be. I am more peaceful, graceful and focused and I have found inner strength. I am thankful for the work Shoshanna has done in her life that enables her to help people like myself. Thanks Shoshanna,          B.
