pain relief testimonials

I had migraine headaches on and off for 18 years. I decided to try acupuncture after developing a severe allergy to Ibuprofen and all the drugs I would normally use for a migraine. I had gone to a different acupuncturist prior to Shoshanna and the treatment was not as effective and personalized. Shoshanna started me with a treatment plan of 12 visits and I loved it so much I continued. During my acupuncture treatments, I am always aware of my breathing slowing down and becoming very rhythmic. I often will feel the temperature in the room change from warm to cool or cool to warm. I experience a sense of total relaxation at every visit. I knew acupuncture was helping me because my headaches lessened in frequency, duration, and intensity. Prior to treating with Shoshanna, I was losing days of my life to these miserable headaches. I no longer live in fear of migraines. On the rare occasion I do get one, I know it will not keep me from work or personal obligations as they previously had.

Shoshanna is a gifted healer. She listens and transmits a powerful energy along with her healing work. She is by far the most intuitive person I have ever met. If you are curious and considering trying acupuncture, I would tell you that you have nothing to fear and everything to gain. I can sum up my experience at RBAC in one word – life changing!          S.B., Oceanport

I have two herniated discs at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 with spinal canal stenosis and neural foraminal encroachment and left L4 and right L4 nerve root compression. I underwent surgery - L4-L5 microdiscectomy - on November 18, 2000 with extensive physical therapy. A reoccurrence of the disease began in 2002. After trying many pain killers and more physical therapy, my orthopedic surgeon referred me to acupuncture treatment. I began acupuncture treatment with Shoshanna Katzman on December 3, 2003. I have for the first time experienced consistent "relief". I have for the first time in 3 years been able to stop taking pain medications.

Everything that Shoshanna explained to me in my first meeting with her has come to be. I was having treatments 2 to 3 times per week and am now able to stretch out my treatments considerably. I am for the first time experiencing a normal life without chronic pain.

Shoshanna, words can not express how thankful I am for your kindness, compassion and understanding.          T.S.

I just wanted to try and tell you how much I appreciate what you and acupuncture have done for me.

By the time I came to see you, I was at the end of my rope with a herniated disc in my lower back and the agonizing words, “You’re going to need surgery’, echoing in my ears.

Having come from a strong chiropractic background, I had for nine months tried several conservative health treatment plans for my injury. These provided considerable relief, but my progress seemed to have reached an impasse and I was beginning to lose hope.

Then Dr S., my chiropractor, suggested trying acupuncture as an alternative treatment. He had never sent a patient on this route before, but felt that at this point, it was worth a try.

I called your office and from our first conversation, I had the warm feeling that you were a sincere, caring healer and you were willing to do whatever was necessary for my good health.

It certainly wasn’t easy for either of us. I was a skeptical patient with very little spirit left and a host of extenuating problems. When we got through the insurance carrier's red tape and set that first appointment, I still was not sure about what I was doing.

I was in pain, limited in movement, and emotionally a disaster. But that didn’t seem to affect you. You gently guided, caringly treated, and totally supported me through one obstacle after another.

At the start, I couldn’t drive myself to your office or tie my own laces. I questioned your every move and had some very real doubts about ever getting any better. But you persisted and encouraged me to continue with acupuncture and chiropractic and constantly instilled healing thoughts in me.

It has been 8 weeks and what an improvement!** I can drive, sleep, complete daily chores, and “smile” at people. The setbacks are minor now and I’m sure given a little more time, they too will be in my past.

Each visit with you is a learning experience as well as a healing one for me. I know through you that healing can take place if we allow it and that we must use every spark in us to achieve full health.

Shoshanna, your skills, patience, and support are the keys to my healing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for me. Always in Health

P.M.

I wanted an alternative to the current traditional solutions I was offered by conventional orthopedic specialists for the treatment of my chronic back pain. You suggested several specialists and in particular Shoshanna Katzman, who I have been going to for past three weeks with remarkable results.

The combination of chiropractic’s and Acupuncture three times a week has resulted in a 90% reduction in my back pain.** Prior to contacting you, I was considering steroid and cortisone shots and eventual surgery, which was treating the symptoms, not the actual problem, and would have been a complete disaster. As a result of your help I am treating the problem and getting results that will last, as opposed the expensive temporary solutions with traditional medicine.

THANK YOU AGAIN, Sincerely,         R.H., Asbury Park, NJ

I am a 47 year old female who has experienced ankle pain in both ankles since I was 20 years old. I went to see a group of orthopedic doctors when I was 21. The problem that I am having is that a bone near my ankles had continued to grow past where most people’s bone stops growing at an early age. A few suggestions from a group of surgeons were pain medication, orthotics for my shoes, braces, and finally, surgery where a ‘pie shaped’ piece of bone in the front of my legs would be removed and ‘hopefully’ the bone would heal and fuse together to change the position of my ankles. They were not sure this could heal properly and have success, so I prompted for orthotics for my shoes. Ten years later, when the pain seemed to worsen, I returned to a new doctor, but there were no new recommendations.

Eight weeks ago, with some encouragement from a friend, I decided to try acupuncture. I did not feel that I had much to lose. The only relief that I was getting was by taking five aspirin when the pain was so bad that I could not walk. There was not one morning that I would wake without some degree of pain.

I began acupuncture at Red Bank Acupuncture & Wellness Center with Shoshanna Katzman in conjunction with a few therapeutic massages.  After the second session, I began to feel much relief from the pain that I was so used to living with.  My ankles feel 90% better than the day I walked into the Red Bank Acupuncture Center.  I now walk for an hour everyday even after eight hours of work.  The throbbing that I usually had daily is gone! It is amazing that not only is the acupuncture painless, but the relief was almost immediate.    I only wish that I had not waited so many years to try this as an alternative.  Thank you so much,          M.P.

I just wanted to let you know that I have had tremendous relief from the myofascial release massages.  Yesterday, I was able to walk 2 ½ miles for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  I am especially happy to report that I have decided to re-open my pet sitting business.  Although I went through a year of pain and frustration, I am grateful that I found Red Bank Acupuncture.  I think that everything happens for a reason and something good always comes out of something bad.  Thank you for the good work that you do. Sincerely,          A.S.

Shoshanna is a humble expert with a truly amazing gift of healing. She has helped my body through unexplained pain. Unexplained until we talked about my pain and what might have brought it on. She uncovers, assesses....whatever it is that she does, her years of study and experience and her gentle approach have rendered me pain free! No muscle relaxers or pain killers- no drugs! Oh! Did I mention that I quit smoking over 3 years ago through acupuncture? I highly recommend Red Bank Acupuncture and Wellness!          M.O., Colts Neck, NJ

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you once again for getting me back on my feet.  After these past two episodes, within the last six months, I am a complete believer in both therapeutic massage and acupuncture.  More so, I am a complete believer in both you and your staff.  You are all truly angels of mercy.  There is no faking the genuine concern in all your voices for my well being.

It starts with your receptionist who rushes back to get a room ready because he could see it was too painful for me to stand or sit in the waiting room.  It continues with your massage therapist who works herself into exhaustion to move those tight muscles.  The moment one thinks the level of care has reached its peak, one hears your soothing voice and feels your soothing touch and immediately knows they are in the hands of a truly special person.  Any initial apprehension about having “needles” put into your flesh quickly dissipates and the relief rushes in.

Thank you for making these two painful incidents disappear quickly, and for getting me back to work in four days each time.  I will continue to shout your name from the mountaintops and hand out your cards to anyone who is interested in feeling better without the aid of modern science and chemicals.  I am a complete believer in both your technique, and in you and your staff. Sincerely,          P.N.

Three years ago I had chronic foot pain. Each step was more painful than the next. It all started back in high school when I participated in a walkathon. I began to feel extreme pain in both feet radiating up the top of my feet, especially after exercise. I was always very active and athletic and I really began to worry about my feet.

In my mid-twenties, a podiatrist suggested orthotics for both feet which made me feel better but only for awhile. Then during my first pregnancy, the weight gain brought the pain to a higher level. The podiatrist wanted to do surgery, which I rejected. I was then sent to see a Rheumatologist who gave me extractive cayenne, which made my feet too uncomfortable.

I began acupuncture treatment in October of 1996. Shoshanna had informed me from the beginning that foot pain usually takes a longer time than most problems to eliminate. After two months of receiving treatment twice a week I began to notice changes. I have to admit it was touch and go for awhile. I’d be on an uphill swing and then back down again. I became very frustrated as the pain continued to be excruciating on and off and, of course, I wanted immediate results. Then, Shoshanna introduced me to a patient who had also suffered from chronic foot pain. This patient shared with me that it took many weeks of acupuncture treatments to achieve permanent pain relief and said I should have faith and not give up too soon. At that point I realized there was hope for me and that I should continue receiving treatments.

I am really happy that I did because shortly afterwards my feet got better and better and I was on my road to recovery. I felt more improvement with each treatment and was soon able to come for treatments less and less with very little discomfort between visits. I now come every 4-6 weeks as maintenance and go the entire time either without pain entirely or with minimal discomfort I have resumed a vigorous exercise routine doing my Nordic Track everyday and kickboxing 2-3 times a week. I feel great, I have more energy than I have had in years. Acupuncture definitely worked for me.

I am so pleased with the results of acupuncture on my ankle. A few months ago I was in constant discomfort. I was very concerned my condition would continue to worsen and I'd eventually be unable to walk. I now feel amazingly better and walk without a limp. My husband and friends are astounded by the remarkable improvement and I am so grateful to have discovered the benefits of acupuncture. It has made a world of difference in the quality of my lifestyle.         R.S.
